UPDATE- Maitland Boil Water Notice for Feb. 3

The City of Maitland successfully passed the first day of tests to determine that potable water is safe to drink. Water samples were submitted on Tuesday, Feb. 3, for the second day of required tests. Boil-water alert could be lifted Wednesday.

The City of Maitland successfully passed the first day of bacteriological tests to determine that potable water from its public utility is safe to drink, meeting or exceeding all state and federal safety standards.

Water samples were submitted on Tuesday, Feb. 3, for the second day of required tests. If those results pass, the city could lift its boil-water alert for all customers by Wednesday afternoon.

Testing, which is a precaution required under Florida Administrative Code, followed a brief drop in the utility’s water service pressure on Sunday due to mechanical failure at a water treatment plant amid cold weather conditions.

Utility customers are advised to continue boiling all water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, or washing dishes. A rolling boil of one minute is sufficient. Bottled water may be used as an alternative.

This notice impacts only City of Maitland water utility customers and does not include small areas of the population served by Casselberry, Winter Park and Orange County utilities.

The city will notify residents when the precautionary boil water notice is lifted. For questions, please contact the City of Maitland at (407) 539-6223.
