The City of Maitland remains under a boil-water alert Monday, Feb. 2. The first of two required days of water sampling is completed and awaiting test results. A second round of samples will be tested on Tuesday.
The boil-water alert potentially will be lifted by Wednesday afternoon pending successful completion of two consecutive days of satisfactory bacteriological tests showing that the potable water supply from Maitland’s water utility is safe for consumption.
Testing, which is a precaution required under Florida Administrative Code, follows a brief drop in the utility’s water service pressure on Sunday due to mechanical failure at a water treatment plant amid cold weather conditions.
Utility customers are advised to boil all water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, or washing dishes. A rolling boil of one minute is sufficient. Bottled water may be used as an alternative.
This notice impacts only City of Maitland water utility customers and does not include small areas of the population served by Casselberry, Winter Park and Orange County utilities.
The city will notify residents when the precautionary boil water notice is lifted. For questions, please contact the City of Maitland at (407) 539-6223.
