The City of Maitland encourages residential solid waste customers to properly recycle materials. Recycling bins should be used only for plastics, metals, glass, paper and cardboard. Clean certain recyclables such as food containers. Do not include non-recyclables, yard waste, electronics, Styrofoam, batteries or plastic bags.
Acceptable paper products include newspapers, junk mail, magazines and catalogs, copy paper, food boxes and cartons. Glass includes bottles and jars. Metal includes aluminum, steel and most types of cans. Recycle plastic items labeled #1 to #7 - this number is typically found on the bottom of containers. Flatten cardboard boxes before disposal.
Recycling is an easy way to help the environment, conserve natural resources and minimize impacts to landfills.
