Be a Sewer Hero.
Do not flush wipes of any kind in the toilet. Even “flushable” wipes and other commonly flushed items can cause significant damage to Maitland’s sanitary sewer system.
Toilets are intended for human waste. Items such as cleaning wipes, baby wipes, cosmetic wipes, diapers, paper towels and personal hygiene products clog up sewer equipment and pipes. These type of products do not break down within the sewer system like toilet paper, often causing costly repairs and sometimes sewer backups.
Reports show these products cause about $441 million in repairs and additional operational costs each year for wastewater utilities across the country.
Help to protect Maitland’s sanitary sewer system. Only flush the three P’s down the toilet - pee, poo, and (toilet) paper. Throw everything else in the trash.
