[ARCHIVED] Fire Hydrant Testing

The Maitland Fire-Rescue Department is conducting annual fire hydrant testing.

Testing ensures that each hydrant operates properly during emergencies and identifies any required maintenance. Crews will visit all areas of the city over several weeks beginning in August.

Firefighters and fire vehicles will be present in areas with hydrant testing.

Testing may disturb sediments that naturally occur in water service pipelines. Water from your faucet and toilet may appear discolored following tests.

There is no health hazard associated with this discoloration. Run cold water from a faucet for about five minutes until it becomes clear again. Discolored water may stain laundry, which should be avoided during tests until sediments are thoroughly flushed out.

For questions, please contact the fire department at (407) 539-6226.
