Potable water service was reduced or interrupted Thursday, Dec. 5, to allow for emergency repairs to a broken water main on Shell Point East. The service change impacts about 11 homes along Shell Point East and part of Whitecaps Circle. Service was expected to be fully restored by Thursday evening.
Upon resuming service, the City of Maitland will issue a precautionary boil-water notice in this area. Neighbors are advised to boil all water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, or washing dishes. A rolling boil of one minute is sufficient. Bottled water may be used as an alternative.
Customers may initially notice a slight discoloration or very small amounts of sediments in the water. If so, run cold water from a bathtub for a few seconds until the appearance clears up.
This notice will remain in effect until drinking water test results pass for two consecutive days, as per Florida Administrative Code. The city will notify residents when the precautionary boil water notice is lifted. For questions, please contact the City of Maitland at (407) 616-5338.
