Maitland yard waste pickup is canceled for Wednesday, Oct. 9, due to closures of local landfills ahead of Hurricane Milton. Residents should not put yard debris or bulky items out for collection. Existing materials at the curb should be secured or brought inside prior to the storm, which is expected to have severe wind gusts up to 110 mph in this area.
Landfills will be closed Wednesday and Thursday. The city’s regularly scheduled residential garbage and recycling will be collected Friday only if conditions allow and landfills reopen following the storm.
