Hurricane Milton Update - 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9

The City of Maitland is closely monitoring and prepared for Hurricane Milton.

The City of Maitland is closely monitoring and prepared for Hurricane Milton.

This week the city crews checked emergency generators that will operate water, wastewater and other facilities during power outages. Building exteriors were secured, and emergency vehicles were readied for expected storm response and recovery. Sandbags were provided to residents Monday and Tuesday – materials are no longer available. Stormwater collection systems were cleared of debris – an important step with up to 15 inches of rainfall projected from the storm.

Residential yard waste will not be collected today due to the closure of local landfills.

City police, fire and public works will continue operations while city administrative offices are closed through the rest of the week.

Throughout the storm event, call (407) 457-5211 to ask questions or to report problems. For emergencies, please call 9-1-1. Updates will be posted on the city website and social media.
