Tropical Storm Fay Information

1.      Will the City’s contractual hauler be continuing regular household garbage collection services during the storm?


    • At present plans call for the city’s contractual hauler to provide service as normal starting the week of August 25th. 


2.      What storm-related changes are there in Leisure Services program? 


    • Due to weather conditions City Parks will continue operating on a reduced schedule on Saturday. Community Parks and all city parks with restroom facilities will be closing by 6 p.m. on Saturday.  Parks Operations will return to normal on Sunday. 
    • Fort Maitland Boat Ramp Concession will be closed over the weekend.
    • The City of Maitland Sunday Farmers’ Market has been canceled for Sunday, August 24th. 
    • The Senior Center will reopen on Monday from 9 am to 4 p.m.


3.      How do I report electrical outages?


    • SAFETY FIRST - We care about your safety. If you see a downed line, you should assume it is energized and stay away from it – then call Progress Energy to report it. Keep away from flooded areas as the water could be hiding an energized line.  Progress Energy's 24 hour 7 day a week customer service line is 1-800-228-8485.


    • Customers who have experienced electrical damage to their home -- such as damage to a weatherhead or meter base -- and are in need a reputable electrician, may contact Progress Energy Florida for referral through its Electrical Contractor Network (ECN). Interested customers should call 1-888-999-8856


4.      Will the City of Maitland be providing sandbags to our citizens?

    • Currently there are no plans to provide sandbags during this event.
