MAITLAND'S LAKE LILY TO EXPLODE WITH FIREWORKS AND LIGHT UP FANFARE PLUS REAL SNOW FOR THE CHILDREN
Maitland, FL.  -- (December 2, 2002) -- The City of Maitland is hosting its 3rd annual Maitland's Season of Light extravaganza on Saturday, December 7, 2002 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at beautiful Lake Lily Park.  Fireworks and lighting fanfare set for blast off at 7:00 p.m. with piles of real snow for the children to frolic in and Santa, Frosty, and Rudolph making a special guest appearance.

The highlight of the event includes a spectacular opening ceremony that will include a dramatic lighting of Lake Lily with thousands of mini white lights, an electrifying parade entry featuring Santa, Frosty, and Rudolph, and a spectacular fireworks fanfare.

After the opening fanfare guests will be entertained by interactive stops situated around the lake which will be teeming with exciting activities and entertainments to include, a Winter Wonderland complete with real snow donated by the RDV Sportsplex Ice Den, a sensational Caroling extravaganza complete with 1900's costuming on the steps of the Garden of Light, an interactive real-life Scrooge character along the boardwalk, Santa, Frosty, and Rudolph will be live at Santa's Village.   To complete the event warm winter drinks, hamburgers, hotdogs, and sweets & treats will be available.  This event is free of charge.

New this year is a fundraising event for the Maitland Historical Society, which will feature historic storytelling around the Historic Waterhouse Residence.  The charge for this fundraising portion of the event is $1 per child and $2 per adult.
