2ND ANNUAL “FREE” LANDSCAPE SEMINAR FEATURING TOM MACCUBBIN

Maitland, FL. --(March 5, 2001)— Residents of Maitland and Winter Park
can attend a free of charge Landscape Seminar featuring “The Plant
Doctor”, Tom MacCubbin on March 17, 2001 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.,
at the Dr. Philips High School Auditorium. The seminar is open to
residents of Maitland and Winter Park, but they must register for the
event by calling 407-905-7697.
The workshop is a cooperative effort between the following governmental
agencies, Altamonte Springs, Apopka, Winter Springs, Casselberry,
Maitland, Winter Park, Orange County, OUC, Winter Garden, and Ocoee.
Also sponsoring the event are, the University of Florida, the Florida
Yards & Neighborhoods Program, the Orange County Extension Service,
and the St. John’s River Water Management District.
“This project is coming at an opportune time,” commented Maitland water
conservation representative, Tonya Elliott. “With increased
watering restrictions in effect this seminar can help residents to be
proactive in their gardening efforts”, continued Elliott. “This
is part of the continuing services we at the City of Maitland want to
provide our residents to help with the water conservation effort,” she
stated.
Residents participating in the seminar will receive all sorts of
freebies along with a certificate of completion from the University of
Florida.
This is the 2nd annual event, which was a roaring success last year,
and is part of an aggressive water conservation program put into effect
by the City of Maitland. The seminar is designed to provide
residents with information, contacts, and services that can help them
have the lawn of their dreams.
