2ND ANNUAL “FREE” LANDSCAPE SEMINAR FEATURING TOM MACCUBBIN
Maitland, FL. --(March 5, 2001)— Residents of Maitland and Winter Park can attend a free of charge Landscape Seminar featuring “The Plant Doctor”, Tom MacCubbin on March 17, 2001 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Dr. Philips High School Auditorium. The seminar is open to residents of Maitland and Winter Park, but they must register for the event by calling 407-905-7697.

The workshop is a cooperative effort between the following governmental agencies, Altamonte Springs, Apopka, Winter Springs, Casselberry, Maitland, Winter Park, Orange County, OUC, Winter Garden, and Ocoee. Also sponsoring the event are, the University of Florida, the Florida Yards & Neighborhoods Program, the Orange County Extension Service, and the St. John’s River Water Management District.

“This project is coming at an opportune time,” commented Maitland water conservation representative, Tonya Elliott.  “With increased watering restrictions in effect this seminar can help residents to be proactive in their gardening efforts”, continued Elliott.  “This is part of the continuing services we at the City of Maitland want to provide our residents to help with the water conservation effort,” she stated.

Residents participating in the seminar will receive all sorts of freebies along with a certificate of completion from the University of Florida.

This is the 2nd annual event, which was a roaring success last year, and is part of an aggressive water conservation program put into effect by the City of Maitland.  The seminar is designed to provide residents with information, contacts, and services that can help them have the lawn of their dreams.
