Gary T. Calhoun, Chief of Police

Gary Calhoun Maitland's Chief of Police is Gary T. Calhoun. He is responsible for ensuring that the employees of the Police Department maintain peace and enforce the laws of the United States and the State of Florida, while adhering to the policies of the Maitland Police Department. His goal is to provide the citizens of Maitland with the best law enforcement possible.

Gary began his career with the Maitland Police Department in 1984. He has climbed up the ranks, serving as an officer and supervisor of each branch of the Department, including Patrol, the Detective Division, and Community Policing. For a number of years, he was the Department's liaison with the media. He was promoted to Deputy Chief in March, 2003, and then appointed as the Chief of Police in December, 2003.

Chief Calhoun is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and has hundreds of hours in Police Management and Leadership Training. Gary is a member of many professional law enforcement organizations, such as the Law Enforcement Executive Development Association, Florida Police Chief's Association, and the FBI National Academy Associates. He is active in the Maitland community. He has been married to his wife Karen since 1989 and they have three children.
