FGBC Evaluator will determine final point achievement and issue Green Local Government certification.  The above numbers are anticipated points with document backup.  We look forward to the final results from FGBC.

City of Maitland's Green Team

Green Team Leader:
Brian Dierks, Public Works: Brian is responsible for assisting the City in its efforts to achieve Tree City certification, developing Invasive Species Removal Plan and assisting in educational material for the Web site.

Green Team Members:

Rick Lemke, Director Public Works: Rick is the Project Coordinator for the Florida Green Building Coalition’s “Green Local Government” certification effort.  Rick will work with all City Departments to implement green strategies and to assist in documentation for point archival.

 

Marissa Rodriguez, Public Works:  Marissa Rodriguez, Public Works:  Marissa is responsible for distributing natural resources educational material regarding  lake preservation and invasive/exotic aquatic plant monitoring and management. She organizes and maintains storm water treatment programs and projects throughout the City.

 

Karen Rosick, Planning & Zoning:  Karen will be the liaison between the City for Builders to educate them on the benefits of Green Building for building.

 

Kristine Neal, Leisure Services:  Kristine is responsible for posting online environmental information including, but not limited to:

  • Maitland’s commitment to Green.
  • Green Building.
  • Water Conservation.
  • Energy Conservation.
  • Recycling (programs and strategies developed by Roxanne Long.
  • Waste Reduction Strategies for Businesses (programs and strategies developed by Roxanne Long.

Verl Emrick, Economic Development: Verl will develop Green Building web site and other educational material for commercial builders to promote green building in Maitland. –

 

Roxanne Long, City Hall: Roxanne, a Certified Recycling Systems Technical Associate by the Solid by the Waste Association of North America,  is responsible for design, development and implementation of the City’s recycling program and Waste Reduction Strategies. Roxann assists local businesses develop a Waste Reduction Strategy upon request.  She is also responsible for Information Technologies green strategies and assisting Sharon Anselmo in implementing EPA EPP training and development of policy.

 

Funding:

Green Team projects are funded by various departments. Building retrofits for upgrades for energy and water devices, park’s recycling bins and bike racks will be funded through Public Works.  Recycling bins for City buildings are funded through the Finance Department.  Energy efficient lighting and electronics for the Community Center have been funded by a HUD grant.  Energy and Waste reduction strategies for electronics will be funded through the IT department.
