Chief Neuhard, a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, was educated at Valencia Community College, and Columbia College where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration.
He began his professional career in the United States Air Force as a crew chief on F-4 fighter aircraft. After finishing his tour of duty, he came to Central Florida seeking opportunities in the tourism industry where he worked for the Walt Disney World Company in the ride development area. With desires for a rewarding and challenging career, he came to the City of Maitland in 1987 as a part-time firefighter. He was soon hired full time and quickly advanced through the ranks. He held the positions of Paramedic, Fire Lieutenant, and for eleven years, the Assistant Fire Chief in charge of Operations. Chief Neuhard was promoted to fulfill the Department's top position in October of 2004
Helping people when emergencies strike and developing firefighters to their fullest potential is what motivates Ken on a daily basis. Commitment to saving lives, protecting property and reducing pain and suffering is the core mission of a modern fire rescue department. Ken's philosophy is that it takes commitment, education and teamwork to get the job done and it takes vision and integrity to be a successful leader. The most enjoyable and rewarding part of his career is working with dedicated people who are willing to do what is necessary to accomplish the goals and challenges that are encountered.
Ken and his wife Stephanie are proud parents and grandparents with one daughter, a grandson and one granddaughter.
