Transportation
1st meeting -"Wants"
- Free flow south bound on 17-92 at Horatio (like 17-92 and Lee Road).
1st meeting -"Concerns"
- Sybelia Avenue CSX crossing.
- Left turn onto Maitland Avenue from Sybelia Avenue.
- Safety of road, especially at CSX.
- Ability of Public Safety vehicles to not be hindered by downtown traffic and/or shoppers.
2nd meeting - "Wants"
- Sybelia Avenue traffic capacity (calming versus capacity/intersection improvements).
- Lake Avenue - free flow.
- Left turns from Lake to north bound 17.92 (safety issues)
- Packwood U-turn on Maitland Avenue. (PM Peak)
- 17-92/Magnolia south bound to north bound U-turns.
- School pick up and drop off on Swoope at Georgia
- Movements at 17-92/Horatio.
- Left turns on to Horatio from Swoope.
- South bound 17-92 access from Versailles (Left turns)
- Bike lanes crossing 17-92.
2nd meeting -"Concerns"
- No bricking in Ridgewood Neighborhood.
- Access from Mechanic Street to 17-92 during train passing times.
- Lake Nina Park improvements have taken police speed "trap" away. Horatio Avenue traffic speed has increased.
- Extend bike line on west bound Horatio from Swoope to 17-92.
3rd meeting -"Wants"
- Closure of 17-92 median at George Avenue intersection.
- Right hand turn signal on light at Maitland Avenue and 17-92.
- Continue Horatio East bound slightly Northward, expanding City Hall park green.
- Remove "bump-out" on West Horatio Street. (Adjacent to Bank of America.)
- Access to/from Post Office.
- No turn-abouts.
- Enhance pedestrian crossing to City Hall green.
- Extend Pedestrian corridor from Ventris Northward to enhance pedestrian access.
3rd meeting -"Concerns"
- No left turn south bound from Maitland Avenue to Horatio.
- Can Swoope handle the new volume of traffic?
- Better transit service - locally to neighborhood levels, like a shuttle service (local)
- School pick up/drop off operations along Swoope; along with business access maintenance under construction.
- Commercial and speeding and volume of traffic on S. Lake Sybelia. Cut through traffic on Packwood if Horatio allows only right turns onto 17-92 (Heading east on Horatio).
3rd meeting -"Solutions"
- Traffic calming on Sybelia and Hillcrest (West of Maitland Avenue) (Reduce cut-through from Sandspur)
Vehicular/ Pedestrian
1st meeting -"Wants"
- Want pedestrian friendly sidewalks
- Uniform styles for walks/streets.
- Reduce Speed of cars.
- Park-like Development.
1st meeting -"Concerns"
- Walking on East and North side of 17-92
1st meeting -"Solutions"
- Underpasses in lieu of bridges for pedestrian walkway.
2nd meeting - "Wants"
- Bike/pedestrian plan
- Better connection with Lake Lily.
- Bicycle connection throughout entire downtown.
- Bike to library, post office and neighborhoods.
- If concrete, use decorative patterns, stamping.
- "Old Florida"
- Lots of benches.
2nd meeting -"Concerns"
- Need retail parking study.
- Better entrance/exist overpass to 17-92 for residents.
- Keeping and/or planting trees.
2nd meeting -"Solutions"
- Underpasses in lieu of bridges for pedestrian walkway.
3rd meeting -"Wants"
- Bike/Pedestrian Plan
- Bike to library, post office and neighborhoods.
- Downstairs "Antonio's" Feel.
- Music: Provide concerts, dances, productions, school events.
3rd meeting -"Concerns"
- Iron clad focus on plan.
- Family friendly.
- Cap % on national chains.
- Handicapped friendly.
- Don't go overboard on the hardscape.
- Existing small businesses will be obliged to leave because the new development will necessitate exorbitant rental amount increases - some type of $$ protection for our present businesses needs to be addressed.
3rd meeting -"Solutions"
- Not be opposed to large chain stores if they comply with City image.
