The master plan selected by the community shows a central park design with the new City Hall building located within its boundaries. City Hall can then be used as an amenity for special events in the park such as 'movies in the Park'.
An allee of trees surround the park area adding shade to the 18' walkway. Within this area spaces will be created that allow the pedestrian to enjoy landscape elements as well as sculptural focal points positioned throughout the site. Water features were included to not only serve as focal points but as elements that will mask traffic noise.The trees will also aid in the separation of the vehicular traffic from the pedestrian adding to the park experience. They will bring shade to vendors that set up for future farmers market events as well at the people that come to enjoy the events. The 18' sidewalk width was determined by the community to be a necessity to allow for gatherings such as farmers markets. Adding a hardscape area into the design protects the site from the constant foot traffic that is generated by public functions. This detail will help to curb maintenance requirements for the park.
