Group one concluded that they liked option 3 with the two-tone material elevation as represented in a small rendering on the Details and Options presentation board, however stated that they would like to see a larger patio.

Group two concluded, by a 7 out of 9 vote, that they liked option 1.
  • Statement: this is a design based on program and community vision. The shape lends itself to three floors of 13,000 s.f. footprint.

  • Participants asked if this needs to be shaped like one large box. Would like to see the shape carved and broke down in scale.

  • One person had concerns with the maintenance a cement board siding.

  • Federal style seems foreign to Maitland

  • Some people felt that it was to ornate and would like to see it appear more modern rather than a historical interpolation

  • One person felt that it should be more about the building and less about the context, felt that the building should be publishable.

  • Others felt that the building should be based on Maitland history.

  • The majority believed that the building should be more civic than residential.

  • All believed that the porch was a great idea but would like to see the porch engaged and pushed back into the facade rather than projected out.

  • One person does not like the tower

  • One person was concerned with the surrounding architecture and how it would affect the city hall

  • One person would like a wrap around porch.

Conclusion of fifth meeting:
  • A vote was taken and 6 people were in favor of the Florida/Maitland style, and 2 prefer the Federal style.
