Maitland Fire Department Offers Flu Shots

The Maitland Fire Rescue Department is encouraging the public to get vaccinated early this season. Again this year Maitland will offer the Quadrivalent vaccine which protects against four strains of seasonal viruses for better protection compared to the Trivalent three strain vaccine. We also have the pediatric dose for infants 6 to 36 month old, and high dose vaccine for seniors over the age of 65 years.

While it is important for everyone to receive their flu shot, it is especially important for people in the following groups to ensure they are protected:
• People who are at high risk of developing serious complications if they get sick with the flu.
• People who have certain medical conditions including asthma, diabetes, and chronic lung disease.
• Pregnant women.
• Children under age 5 and seniors 65 and older.
• People who live with or care for others who are at high risk of developing serious complications.
• Caregivers of infants less than 6 months old.
• Health care personnel.

To get your flu shot, stop by the Fire Station located at 1776 Independence Lane (behind City Hall) on Packwood Avenue at the intersection of Maitland Avenue any day of the week. Maitland Firefighters will also be administering vaccines on Sundays at the Farmers Market located at Lake Lily. For groups of 15 or more located in Maitland, arrangements can be made to bring the flu shots to you. Most insurance carriers and Medicare Part B are accepted at no charge. For those without insurance the cost is $30 for the flu vaccine.  For more information, please contact Fire Administration at 407/539-6229 or
