City Hall Visits
The City Manager’s Office sponsors live demonstrations and onsite visits to City Hall for local area schools. These City Hall visits enable students to learn about government, how it works, and what’s involved. The school children get the opportunity to meet with the City Manager, tour the police D.A.R.E car, ride in the fire truck while also touring the Fire Station, as well as a new program added in 2001 the Public Works Parade and Cavalcade. This is an active, moving, live display of some of the large vehicles used by the Public Works Department. The children get up close contact with VAC Trucks, Backhoes, and Street Sweepers and gain an understanding of how and why the equipment is used. Anyone interested in these school tours may call 407-539-6222, or email mwaldrop@itsmymaitland.com.
