Bev Reponen moved to Maitland in 1974. She is a state certified teacher, having received her B.S. degree in biology and sociology from Western Michigan University and her Masters in Education, with a specialty in reading, from Rollins College. Before joining the Council she was a board member of the Lakes Advisory Board for ten years, the Personnel Board for eleven years, and President of the Friends of Maitland's Waterways for eight years. She was the founder and small business owner of Reading Fundamentals Clinic in Altamonte Springs. She was a founding board member of Celebrate Trees in Maitland, a volunteer tutor at Dommerich Elementary, and an Additions volunteer at Winter Park High School for eight years. She helped protect the trees in Maitland's Community Park by organizing and recruiting volunteers for an "Air Potato Raid". Removal of the vine's potato-like tubers helps eliminate the exotic vine that kills the trees. Bev and her husband Dan raised their two children, who are now adults, in Hollieanna Shores and in The Oaks, where they presently reside.
