Dick was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. He received his Bachelor's degree at Valparaiso University (Indiana) and graduated from Florida State University with his Master's degree. Dick has been active in community planning in Central Florida for over 30 years. He began his professional career as a Planner with the East Central Florida Regional Planning Council and has served with the cities of Longwood, Casselberry, and Port Orange. Between 1980-1986, he was the Planning and Zoning Director for the City of Maitland.
Dick has lived in Maitland since 1979 and, along with his wife Robin, raised his two children in the City. Dick is a Charter Member of the American Institute of Certified Planners and a member of the American Planning Association and the Florida Planning and Zoning Association. He believes strongly in Maitland's potential and wants to continue working towards making Maitland Florida's premier "Community for Life."
