Standards and Safety Assurance is made up of 10 people headed by the Building Official/Chief Code Enforcement Officer and Fire Marshal. The Building program is responsible for plans review, permitting, and inspections of all construction projects. The Fire Prevention program is responsible for the plans review, permitting, and inspections of fire safety systems for all construction projects. In addition the Fire Prevention program provides fire and life safety education and training along with conducting routine maintenance inspections of existing commercial structures within the City. Code Enforcement is responsible for the investigation of complaints and correction of violations to City Ordinances. Fire Training/Safety is responsible for training and ensuring the safety of all Fire, Rescue, & Building staff. Along with these responsibilities the Standards and Safety Assurance Division also provides staff liaisons for two of our City Boards, the Code Enforcement Board and the Board of Adjustment and Appeals.
