Planning and Zoning Commission Meeting


About the Commission

The Planning and Zoning Commission is a five member volunteer Board comprised of citizens of Maitland appointed by the City Council. Commission members are appointed to terms of three years and may be appointed for one additional consecutive term.

The Commission serves in an advisory capacity to the City Council and is responsible for preparation and maintenance of the City’s Comprehensive Development Plan as well as preparation of the City’s Land Development Code. The Commission reviews and provides recommendations to the City Council regarding land development applications such as, zoning code amendments, annexations, property rezoning (including planned developments), permitted conditional uses, comprehensive development plan amendments, and subdivision plats. The Commission reviews and issues decisions concerning land development applications such as site plan review and off-site or shared parking.

V.       Public Hearing: Petition No. 2007-05(ALU) Future Land Use Map and Text Amendments/Establish Transit Oriented Development (TOD) District

Applicant: City of Maitland, 1776 Independence Lane, Maitland, Florida 32751

Location: The proposed area to be affected by the TOD District is that area generally located along US 17-92 (Orlando Avenue) within a ½ mile radius around the proposed location of the Maitland Commuter Rail Station, within the City of Maitland. This area is generally located near the existing Parker Lumber property by the CSX Railroad Tracks within the City of Maitland.

 

Request: This amendment will seek to establish a Transit Oriented Development District for the area around the proposed location of the Maitland station on the proposed Central Florida Commuter Rail line. This amendment will also introduce general language to propose future planning and study exercises addressing future development within the proposed TOD area.

 

VI.  Public Hearing: Petition No. 2007-03 (ALU) Future Land Use Map and Text Amendments/ Identify boundary of the proposed Maitland Town Center

        Applicant: City of Maitland, 1776 Independence Lane, Maitland, Florida 32751

Location:  The subject area is located between two major roadways, US 17-92 on the east and Maitland Avenue on the west. George Avenue is the northern boundary and Packwood Avenue is the southern boundary. The subject area is bisected by Horatio Avenue.

Request: This amendment seeks to identify the boundary location of the proposed Maitland Town Center development on the Future land Use Map (FLUM). This amendment will also introduce language addressing residential density and non-residential intensity within those boundaries.
